Doncaster Knights '˜must make Castle Park a fortress again' '“ Lloyd HayesÂ

Castle Park has traditionally been a daunting place for Doncaster Knights' Championship rivals in recent years.

But strong-running centre Lloyd Hayes admits that has not always been the case during the last 12 months.

Knights have lost five home games this season, including their last two in the Championship Cup one of which was against Saturday's visitors Yorkshire Carnegie.

'Doncaster has always been a tough place to come '“ it certainly was during my time at Rotherham before I came here '“ but we seem to have lost some of that reputation in recent weeks,' said Hayes.

'We've got to try and get back on the horse starting with the game against Carnegie.

'It will be the third time we've played them in the last five weeks and I don't think anyone would argue that Saturday's game is the most important to both clubs. We are both in the bottom four of the Championship just two games from the halfway point of the season.

'The fact that they beat us here in the Championship Cup will give them a psychological advantage and they have every right to think that they can beat us again.

'We played well in both games we lost against them but for only 40 minutes or so in each game and that's something we need to put right.

'We've got a lot of quality in the side and we still look good with ball in hand. When we put things together we are still a tough team to beat.

'The good thing is that even though we know we haven't been playing at our best it's nothing that can't be fixed going forward and we've got to show, hopefully starting on Saturday, the team that we can be.

'We know that we aren't a bottom four side.

'But the only way we are going to start to climb the table is by picking up points. Beating a Carnegie side which is also in a false position on current form would be a huge boost and a great way to go into 2019.'
