'It's obviously not the start that we wanted,' said head coach Glen Kenworthy reflecting on a record of just two wins from five starts.

'We knew it would be a tough start '“ and we've played three of the current top four '“ but we had expected to do better than we have.

'It certainly puts more pressure on us to get a result at home to Jersey on Saturday because we want to have won more games than we've lost going into the new Championship Cup campaign kicks-off at the start of next month.

'Jersey haven't made the best of starts but they picked up their first win over a Yorkshire Carnegie side who are struggling with a lot of injuries last weekend.'

Kenworthy and backs and skills coach Paul Cooke reviewed the game when the players reported back for training on Monday.

'To score more tries than the home side and still lose is obviously disappointing,' said Kenworthy.

'Fifteen of their points came from our indiscipline and that was something we discussed with the players.

'We defended well both individually and as a team and that was pleasing though the late try scored by full-back Sean Scanlon was frustrating because it came from a move which we had worked hard on in training during the week and was the result of a missed tackle.

'We got off to a decent start and scored an early try but we were on the back foot for the rest of the game certainly in terms of territory.

'With only getting parity in the scrums at best, we only got into their half three times after the break scoring a try and creating two other chances but, as I say, we defended well.'
