The strong-running centre will see out the season with Rotherham Titans before making the switch to Castle Park.

“Whilst it has been a difficult decision to leave Rotherham, a club which has given me the opportunity to play full-time rugby in the Championship over the past two seasons, I’m very excited about the prospect of joining such a progressive club as Doncaster Knights,” Hayes told Knights’ official website.

“From being relegated in to National One in 2012/13 the Knights have bounced back incredibly well to currently occupy second position in the league.

“It is undoubtedly a club with great on field and off field systems which will enable me to further develop as a player and I’m very excited at the prospect of continuing my journey with such an ambitious club.”

Hayes joined Titans in 2013 after playing a key role in Chester’s National Three North title success.

Doncaster director of rugby Clive Griffiths said: “I’ve seen him progress through the ranks in North Wales to get to where he is now.

“He’s played against us for Rotherham and showed up very well.

“He’ll add to us in midfield and he’s versatile as well - he can play on the flank and at full back.”
