Barring a major collapse, Knights are heading for the Championship play-offs - which few experts predicted at the start of the season.

In all competitions the club has lost one game in their last 16.

And this week they have been very keen to build on the momentum on the pitch through their business off it.

Director of rugby Clive Griffiths firstly moved to strengthen his options at full back by bringing David McIlwaine back to the club for a second spell.

While four key players have been tied down on new two-year deals: on-field skipper Michael Hills, leading scorer and fitness coach Dougie Flockhart, as well as front row pair Colin Quigley and Ben Hunter.

Griffiths said: “We’ve got a great blend of youth and experience in this squad and these four definitely bring that experience to the table.

“Off the pitch they all bring different things to the group and add to us individually.

“We look forward to moving things forward with these four at the helm.”

Knights are expected to confirm further contract extensions before the week is out.

They travel to Cornish Pirates on Sunday aiming to take another giant step towards wrapping up a top four finish.

With six games to go, Doncaster currently hold a 17-point advantage over fifth-placed Jersey.

Next month Knights will return to Mennaye Field for a British & Irish Cup quarter-final against the Pirates.
