Doncaster juniors claim Danum Cup on home soil


The less experienced Bawtry team finished third of the three competing teams.
Bawtry’s Jacob Mitchell, who is also a member at Doncaster, recorded the best net score (70) of the day with Luke Gregory (Doncaster) posting the best gross score (74).

Hide AdJudy Cox (38 points) won Wheatley’s Wrigglesworth Cup. Sandra Argyle (36) bagged the runner-up spot in the stableford competition on a better back-nine from Joyce Norman (36).
Ian Strickland (net 62) took the honours in Thorne’s Wednesday medal competition in impressive fashion finishing seven shots clear of runner-up Tom Scott (69) and third-placed Tony Garth (69).
The weekly seniors’ competition was a much closer affair with Ken Robinson (net 63) being pushed hard by runner-up Neil Dixon (64). John Tyson (67) finished third.
Club captain Andy Gray (net 66) proved the man to beat in the club’s Saturday medal. Steve Beastall (67) headed the chasing pack with Tony Garth (68) claiming third spot.

Hide AdGarth knocked four strokes off his Saturday score to finish well clear of the field in Sunday’s competition.
Gray (68) finished second with Tony McGarry (70) completing the top three.
Richard Scaife/Steve Wykes/Cyril Ward/Tom Kirk (53.6) were the winning team in Doncaster Town Moor’s Texas Scramble.
Jim Mackie/Steve Hathaway/Michael Gilmore/Ricky Sykes (54.8) were runners-up with Simon Eccles/John Eccles/Junior Crehan (56.3) claiming third spot.
