Doncaster hairdresser set to repay heroes who helped him

Jordan is raising cash for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and without them he might not have the use of his left arm.

Jordan was seriously injured in a cycling accident on August 2, 2016. He fell while out on a ride with the Chain Gang training group, falling heavily on his left-hand side at over 30mph.

“Everyone was on the limit. We touched wheels and I went down hard,” he said.

Jordan suffered horrific injuries, with a broken arm and serious lacerations to the elbow.

“I pretty much took my elbow off,” the 23-year-old said.

Jordan, of The Boulevard, Edenthorpe also injured ribs in the crash.

He doesn’t remember much from the accident, but he clearly recalls his surprise at hearing just how quickly the service would get him to Northern General Hospital in Sheffield.

“I remember them saying an estimated arrival time of 14 minutes,” he said.

He required three operations in the days after the accident. A plate and screws were inserted in the arm.

He was full of praise for the service.

“They were amazing,” Jordan said.

He aims to raise what it cost to transport him to the hospital - about £3,500.

The hairdresser has had his locks lopped for the cause, and so far has £410 in the bank.

If he can rope a group of friends into it, he will ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End. Jordan is setting aside just five days to undertake that trip.

“If I can get a few more crazy mates involved,” he said.

“I’ve got a few mates down for it.”

Another plan is to undertake a 24-hour hairdressing challenge and keep his workplace, Bloww Hair and Beauty in East Laith Gate, open overnight.

Punters will then donate to the cause, paying what they think their new hairdo is worth.

“That will be a good bit of money we can get for them,” Jordan said.

Jordan had a significant loss of function in his arm after recovery, about 120 degrees’ worth.

With physiotherapy, that loss is down to between 10 and 15 degrees.
