TWO youngsters were in awe of South Yorkshire heroine Jess Ennis after a chance meeting at Doncaster Airport.
Darcy Smith, eight, and Freya Shaw, ten, both from Thorne, were thrilled to meet the world’s number one heptathlete, who won a gold Olympic medal last week.
The friends were about to jet off on a holiday to Mallorca when they saw Jess - who lives in Sheffield - as she was on her way to train in Portugal before the London Games began.
Darcy’s mum Freya, 37, said: “They were absolutely over-the-moon. Jess was really, really lovely and friendly.”
