Rotherham, who included former England and Lancashire fast bowler Sajid Mahmood, were bundled out for just 86 as Australian Michael Topp claimed a five-wicket haul on his Doncaster debut.

In reply the hosts reached their modest target with minimum fuss, losing just two wickets.

Topp snared superb figures of 5-11 from 11 overs to bring the visitors’ innings to an abrupt halt.

Former Doncaster skipper Graeme Attenborough also announced his return to the club in impressive fashion.

He claimed three quick wickets to help leave Rotherham’s innings in tatters at 19-5, finishing with figures of 3-14.

Attenborough then opened for Doncaster and made 36 in 32 balls to send his side on the way to victory.

Scott Hibbett (41) had earlier top scored for Rotherham and was one of only two batsmen to reach double figures.

Doncaster were comprehensively dumped out of the ECB National Club Championship on Sunday when they lost by 185 runs at Hanging Heaton.

Richard Foster scored an unbeaten 128, Nicholas Connoly made 80 and Joe Fraser was not out on 59 when the hosts posted 294-2 from their 45 overs.

Town’s chase never got going and only 66 from Matthew Head prevented further embarrassment as they were bowled out for 109.
