Tomasz Michal Bogus, aged 41, was found hanging from a roof beam in his marital home Cumberland Avenue, on August 17 last year.

An inquest at Doncaster Coroners Court heard that around two weeks before his death, Mr Bogus had moved out of the house at the request of his wife, Justyna Jayna Bogus.

Mrs Bogus said she and her husband, who moved to Doncaster from Poland five years ago, had been having marital problems.

Shortly after, she went back to Poland to visit family, but she stayed in touch with her estranged husband, who was by then living in rented accommodation.

On August 14, Mrs Bogus received a phone call from Mr Bogus, who told her he wanted to die.

“He was shouting at me. He was drunk. He said ‘I don’t want to live without you. He had never said anything like that before, I didn’t believe him, but I was still worried.”

Mrs Bogus called Tomasz’s brother, Michael Bogus, who also lives in Doncaster, and asked him to check on her husband.

Michael’s calls and texts to his brother went unanswered and on August 17, when Tomasz failed to go to work, he went to the house, where he found him dead.

The court heard that Tomasz had left a suicide note, which was written in Polish, explaining how much he loved his wife and what his intentions were.

Assistant Coroner Mark Beresford recorded a conclusion of suicide.
