A Doncaster singer who narrowly missed out on the final of Britain's Got Talent and who once starred in Coronation Street has landed a plum role in a nationwide UK tour.
Rachael Wooding, who wowed judges, including Simon Cowell on last year's series of the ITV talent show, will star alongside West End stars Wendi Peters and Dave Willetts in Wonderland, a musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures In Wonderland.
And Harlington-based Rachael, 38, will star as Alice in some of the dates on the nationwide tour which will come to York and Grimsby in our region.
Wendi Peters, much loved for her portrayal of Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street, will headline the show as Queen of Hearts alongside musical theatre favourite Dave Willetts, who has previously starred in tours of South Pacific, 42nd Street and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, as White Rabbit.
West End and Broadway leading lady Kerry Ellis, best known for playing Elphaba in the West End and Broadway productions of Wicked, will guest star as Alice in select venues around her concert commitments, with Rachael appearing at other dates on the tour including York Grand Opera House and Grimbsy Auditorium.
Rachael was pippedr to third place in the Britain's Got Talent semi-final last year.
The singer performed Gravity by Sara Bareilles - and was given a unanimous thumbs up by judges but lost out in the public vote to male crooner Wayne Woodward and stunt performer Alex Magala who were voted through.
The singer was 14-1 with bookmakers to win the show before her elimination.
Rachael landed her place in the semi finals after wowing judges with a pitch perfect rendition of With You from Ghost The Musical in earlier auditions.
The show runs at Grimbsy Auditorium from February 27-March 4 and York Grand Opera House from March 6-11.
