On the final day of the FA Women’s Super League season, Katrin Omarsdottir scored the vital goal after 70 minutes to give the Belles a narrow 1-0 victory.

Doncaster came under plenty of pressure from Reading but a strong defensive display from her side left Little over the moon.

The victory meant relegated Belles avoided ending the season with zero points.

“Seeing the goal go in was just an absolute massive, massive relief. Also, it is just nice to be celebrating something,” she said.

“To get together with the girls and celebrate and finish the season on a high is good.

“It has been a tough season and we’ve put in a lot of part performances and had to weather storms for part of games.

“There was a lot of pressure on us today defensively, but we managed to keep a clean sheet and score a goal, which is great.

“It took us a bit of time to get going, but managing to get in at half time still 0-0 and knowing that you’re still in the game boosted our confidence.

“We also knew today was our last chance to get something,” she added. “We didn’t want to go down with no points on the board and we said that we’d put our bodies on the line and go for it.”
