Doncaster has been crowned the greatest place in Yorkshire – in a World Cup which pitted 16 of the county’s towns and cities against each other on Twitter.

The Yorkshire World Cup aimed to find the region’s top spot – through a series of votes played out in the format of a football World Cup.

And Doncaster eventually emerged victorious after seeing off the likes of bigger city rivals such as Leeds, Sheffield and York in the fun contest organised by Twitter user James Marshall.
