Rooster Farm and Rescue in Bentley has made the plea after revealing it has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.

In a heartbreaking Facebook post, bosses wrote: “We were hoping we wouldn't be so affected by all the madness of Covid where we have had to resort to this, but if we dont make up these losses we are going to end up shutting our doors.”

The post says the farm has lost £30,000 since last March, with bills and costs of feeding animals spiralling.

“We have not been able to rehome like we did in 2019 because of Covid-19,” it adds.

"We have tried our hardest to keep things running smoothly but this hasn't been the case.

"With only one of us working at the moment, it's been a struggle.

"Our savings account is nearly gone as this is what we used to keep the rescue running and of course the support from you guys. Our monthly bill is over £1,000 – that's for feed, bedding, medical, transportation and maintenance of the rescue and we literally dont have that funding in any account anymore.

"Animals can't ask for help and often come to us when the previous owners don’t know where to turn with them or we have phone calls where animals have been neglected and need medical attention.

"The rescue is reliant on vital donations which the rescue has lost out on due to being closed nearly a year.

"With this in mind we are very concerned about what will happen this month and next. These animals rely on us to look after them and we rely on all of you to keep a roof over their heads.

“So for the love of all our rescue animals that rely on us, please give what you can. No amount is too small if every single one of our followers would give us 50p we would raise our monthly costs. And enough to save rooster farm. And that's how little it takes to make a difference.”
