A team of nine employees from Doncaster Sheffield Airport will be hoping for good weather this weekend as they prepare for their annual two day charity walk.

This year they are walking in honour of their former friend and colleague John Boiston who died last year following a battle with cancer.

He was an employee at the airport when it first opened in 2005 working for Servisair and later went on to join the team at Western Aviation.

Friends of John who will be taking part in the walk include, Tim Webb from Airfield Operations, Airport Duty Manager Mike Foot and seven airport security agents - all raising funds for the Brain Tumour Charity.

The hikers will leave Whitby Abbey at 7am on Sunday, camp overnight at Scarborough, and press on to Filey Brigg on Monday.

Tim, the organiser, said: “We hope the weather stays kind to us but we are all really looking forward to Sunday. The team at the airport are doing this for John. He was a great friend and worked with us from the very beginning. “This walk is all about raising awareness for the Brain Tumour charity in his name.”
