Donation boost for Doncaster cancer charity

Generous residents from a Doncaster village have given one of the borough's oldest charities a cash boost.

Bentley Town End Tenants and Residents Association (TARA) donated £649.02 to Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust.

Councillor Pat Knight, who is in charge of Public Health and Wellbeing, and Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband accepted the cheque on behalf of Jeanette Fish, a founding member of the charity.

Mr Miliband thanked the TARA and its secretary Colin Burke for the donation, which was given following the group’s decision to disband.

He added: “The Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust – led by Jeannette Fish – has made a huge difference to people’s lives here in Doncaster.

“People right across the borough have dug deep to support their work and I hope that will continue for many more years.”
