Detectives seek group of teenagers in probe into shooting in Mexborough

Detectives investigating a shooting in Mexborough want to trace a group of teenagers in the area at the time.

At around 6pm on Wednesday, 20 January, shots were fired in the Frederick Street and Whitelee Road area of Mexborough.

As part of the police probe into the incident officers have established that a group of teenage boys were walking in the area at the time.

They were reportedly wearing dark clothing and hooded tops and were all slim and between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 7ins tall.

Three men were arrested in connection with the incident are on bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are also investigating a shooting in Victoria Road, Mexborough, where a gun was fired through the window of a house.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “At this time it is not clear whether the incidents are linked.”
