Deserving dog needs a special Sheffield home

Here is an affectionate young dog who has been waiting for a proper home and family for a very long time.

TJ, a loveable brindle crossbreed, has been in RSPCA kennels for months and as an intelligent dog, he finds the restricted life there quite frustrating.

Very eager to please and to learn new things, TJ is enthusiastic about everything, and if offered a food reward for solving a tesk, he will work extra hard to find a way to get his prize.

A spokesperson for RSPCA Sheffield said: “This cute fella is a special lad. He’s full of life and loves to run and play.

“Sometimes he doesn’t realise his own strength when he is being super silly, so is looking for a home with older children who can appreciate his quirks and love him for the bouncy cheeky chap that he is.”

TJ would love an active home with people who have plenty of time to put in to his care, support and training. He thrives on encouragement.

His antics when playing with soft toys will entertain his owner, but he then enjoys curling up on your lap for a warm cuddle.

Sometimes unsure around other dogs, TJ is learning that he can relax in company and he can be rewarded when he manages to do this.

His future home would be best without any other dogs in residence so that TJ can continue to develop his confidence and skills without pressure of any kind.

Aged one year and two months, TJ has no health issues to worry about and he likes to eat James Wellbeloved Complete.

Anyone who might like to adopt TJ is invited to go along and meet him, by the RSPCA staff.

A £20 non-refundable fee is taken at the time of reservation for dogs and cats. This sum will be deducted from the fee at the time of adoption.

A home visitor will call you and arrange a convenient time to have a chat with you in your home.

This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have thought of following your initial visit.

It will also allow the centre staff to be assured that your home is the best environment for the animal that you have reserved.

Following a successful home visit adopters then usually collect their new pet within four days.

There will be some paperwork to complete on your final visit, when you pick up your new family member.

From this month onwards, members of the public will not be able to access the kennel area freely. This is because study done into the welfare of kennelled dogs within a rescue environment has found that new faces cause unnecessary stress and upset for the dogs. A choice of suitable dogs will be recommended to you.
