ON THIS DAY: 2013: The disastrous Doncaster landslide that caused months of chaos

They were pictures that shocked Doncaster and the rest of the country.

A railway line or a rollercoaster? The scene after the landslide.

It was on this day in 2013 that a huge landslide wrecked the Doncaster to Scunthorpe railway line when thousands of tonnes of colliery waste collapsed onto the tracks, leaving them twisted and buckled like a scene from a disaster movie.

The landslip at Hatfield Colliery caused months of misery for commuters as thousands of pounds worth of repairs were carried out while the line was shut.

It wasn't until the summer before the track was brought back into use after bad weather led to the tip collapsing.

Here's some of our dramatic pictures from the time. Can you remember the incident?
