Danum Eagles maintain momentum ahead of play-offs

Danum Eagles kept up their positive momentum ahead of the play-offs with a hard fought 69-59 win over Sefton Stars.

The prolific Mathew Martin led the scoring with 14 points, Liam Knapp added 13, while Brandon Smith scored 12.

Eagles will finish the regular Division Three season in second place behind Team Newcastle University.

But they will have home advantage for the first two rounds of the play-offs as they battle it out for a second promotion in successive seasons.

Eagles bring the curtain down on their normal league season on Sunday at Leeds Force Academy.

They have a record of 15 wins and four losses.

n Eagles’ under 14s finished the regular season on a high note with a 80-49 win over rivals Sheffield Sharks.

Maxwell led the Eagles with a season high points total of 22.

The Doncaster side finished fifth in the North East Development League.

Eagles’ under 18s lost a close game to league leaders QE York Knights 75-66.

Sonny Singh led the way with 20 points. while Danny Eddy, playing his last game as an Eagle, contributed 14 points.

“Danny is an example of a real Danum Eagles player,” said head coach Bob Martin. “A great kid. He will be missed.”
