The race was first run in 1969 on a course based in Wentworth just outside of Doncaster by the Birdwell Wheelers Cycling Club.

But in recent years the circuit moved to one based on some of Doncaster’s scenic countryside around the villages of High Melton, Cadeby and Sprotbrough.

The race, sponsored by 1970 winner Chris Parkinson’s Parkinson Dental Cabinets, will be run over a testing six-mile circuit to be covered ten times by a field of 70 cyclists.

It starts at 10am from High Melton College and is expected to finish at approximately 12.30pm.
