Halliwell, of Wharf Road in Crowle, North Lincolnshire, was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court.

PC Adam Frost, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “The courage and bravery of the victims to come forward and report their abuse to police has to be commended.

“Some of these crimes took place over 35 years ago against a child who was under 10-years-old.

“Halliwell took advantage of his victims’ vulnerability and I hope that, following the sentencing, the victims feel reassured and protected, knowing their abuser is behind bars.

“I’d also hope that cases like this demonstrate to other victims of sexual abuse out there who may not yet have come forward that we will listen to you.

“We will investigate and wherever possible, bring offenders to justice.”
