Woman taken to hospital after driver flees scene of Doncaster road smash

A woman has been taken to hospital and a police investigation has been launched after a driver fled the scene of a late night Doncaster road smash.

Officers were called to the junction of Nether Hall Road and Broxholme Lane shortly before midnight last night following reports that a woman had been involved in a collision with a car.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Officers were called at 11.58pm for reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian on Broxholme Lane in Wheatley.

"It is reported that a black Audi collided with a woman before fleeing the scene.

"The woman was taken to hospital via ambulance, her injuries are not believed to be life threatening."

Eye witnesses reported seeing a number of police vehicles combing the area in the hours after the collision.

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1082 of 26 April 2021."
