Woman injured during handbag theft in North Lincolnshire


A woman suffered cuts and bruises after her handbag was stolen in a Scunthorpe street.

The 57-year-old was walking past Boozemasters, Berkeley Street, at around 2.40pm yesterday, (Sunday, April 17) when a man grabbed her handbag.

She held on and fell to the floor, suffering cuts and bruises. However, the man pulled the bag from her and fled towards Doncaster Road.

The woman and a second man, believed to be known to the offender, gave chase but the offender managed to evade them.

The suspect is said to be of Asian appearance, around 5ft 7in tall, aged 18 to 25 and of chubby build.

He wore a hooded top, jogging bottoms and scarf – which were all dark coloured.
