Woman dies following three vehicle road smash near Doncaster

A woman has died and two other people were taken to hospital after a serious three vehicle collision on a busy Doncaster area road.

The 34-year-old was airlifted to hospital following the collision near to Maltby yesterday afternoon but died from her injuries this morning.

A 75-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman travelling in a separate vehicle were taken to hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said that a silver Mercedes C Class was travelling along the A631 Tickhill Road towards Maltby at around 3.40pm yesterday when it was in collision with a Scania LGV.

The LGV then left the carriageway after colliding with a silver Citreon Picasso.

A statement said: “The driver of the Mercedes was airlifted to hospital, where she sadly died as a result of her injuries this morning.”

The 28-year-old driver of the LGV was uninjured while the pensioners in the Picasso suffered minor injuries.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who saw what happened to contact them.

They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who has any dashcam footage of the collision, or the moments prior to it.
