Two men have been arrested after a man was smashed over the head with a wine bottle in Doncaster town centre this morning.

Officers were called to St Sepulchre Gate shortly before 11.30am today following reports of a disturbance.

It was reported that three men were involved in a fight during which one man – understood to be a 37-year-old Doncaster man – was smashed over the head with a wine bottle.

He was taken to hospital by friends for treatment.

Two men aged 27 and 49 were arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault, both remain in custody at this time.

As the enquiry continues, anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number of 264 of 12 March 2021.
