Two hunted for Doncaster shop robbery

Police are seeking witnesses to an armed robbery at a mini market in Doncaster.

Two men, with their faces covered, entered the general store at the corner of Balby Road and Earlsmere Avenue in Balby about 12.45pm on Thursday, December 5.

One of them held a large kitchen knife towards a female member of staff and demanded that she fill a carrier bag with packets of cigarettes.

The pair then ran from the shop in the direction of Earlsmere Road, carrying the bag filled with cigarettes.

The first man, who held the knife, is described as white, slim and around 5ft 9ins tall. He was around 19 or 20 years old, had a local accent, and was wearing jogging bottoms as well as a grey hooded top with Abercrombie printed on the sleeves, in white lettering.

The second man was also white and was wearing a dark black or blue coat with a large logo on the back, with a hooded top underneath.

Witnesses, or anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 720 of Thursday, December 5 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
