Do you recognise these people, who may be linked with a fierce fight that occurred on a train between Doncaster and Scunthorpe.

British Transport Police are re-appealing for information about the clash, that involved a headbutting in the first class carriage of the 21.49 Sheffield to Cleethorpes service on Saturday, September 14.

Following a new line of enquiry, officers have released CCTV images in a bid to identify five people, three men and two women, who they believe may help with their investigation.

PC Richard Soare said: “The train guard reported a fight breaking out on the service and a passenger being headbutted by a man. Two women and another man then also became involved.

“We believe that a fourth man also got drawn into the fight and was assaulted. He left the train at Althorpe.”

Officers believe the group, who were all smartly dressed and had boarded the train in Doncaster, may have been returning from the St Leger race festival. They left the service at Scunthorpe.

One of the women was wearing a white dress that had become covered in blood.

PC Soare continued: “After viewing CCTV of this incident we are now releasing CCTV images in an attempt to trace five people we believe may have vital information. We would also like to appeal for the man who was assaulted to get in touch with us as well.”

“If anyone was travelling on the service and witnessed the incident I would urge them to contact us.”
