Three charged after serious assault in Doncaster

Three men have been charged in connection with an alleged serious assault in Doncaster.

John Gilliver, 32, of Beech Crescent, Mexborough, appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, December 23) charged with Section 18 assault and violent disorder.

Appearing alongside him was 29-year-old Liam McGuire, of Main Street, Rotherham, also charged with Section 18 assault and violent disorder.

Robert Sutherland, 28, of Manor Court, Denaby, also appeared charged with Section 18 assault, violent disorder and dangerous driving.

All three have been remanded in custody and will appear before Sheffield Crown Court on January 25 next year.

The charges relate to reports that a 19-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Burcroft Hill, Conisbrough, at around 5.15pm on Friday, December 11.

It is reported that two vehicles were involved in a collision on Burcroft Hill, which also caused damage to a boundary wall and another vehicle.

It is understood that a 19-year-old man, the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the collision, was then assaulted.
