Three arrested and cannabis plants seized in latest Doncaster drugs bust
Three people have been arrested and dozens of cannabis plants seized in the latest in a series of drugs busts on a Doncaster suburb.
Officers swooped in Hexthorpe yesterday – the latest in a multi-agency operation to clampdown on drugs and anti-social behaviour in the area.
Police raided a house in Mutual Street with three people aged 33, 41 and 42 arrested on suspicion of cannabis cultivation.
A significant quantity of cannabis plants were seized and South Yorkshire Police have said action to disrupt the suspected Organised Crime Gang activity will continue regularly over the next few months.
Residents in Hexthorpe have been experiencing regular power cuts over the past few months and following partnership work with Northern Power Grid and Doncaster Council, a number of houses in the area have been identified as possible cannabis growing sites.
Doncaster’s Central Neighbourhood Team led yesterday’s raid.
Inspector Mark Payling, in charge of the operation said: “We’ve listened to concerned residents from Hexthorpe and have invested significant resources in tackling this issue. We will not tolerate electricity supplies being bypassed, the impact this has on residents in the area is substantial and unfair.
“We have a robust action plan in place and will continue the partnership work that has already begun to ensure that those who are responsible for this activity are found and dealt with.

It comes just days after a £2 million cannabis haul was discovered in a former bingo hall in Mexborough.
