We had received a report of a lorry being broken into at Great Yorkshire Way. The offenders, in another truck, a 7.5 tonne HGV, drove off and were seen by officers, who pursued them.

The lorry went the wrong way down Hallgate and later collided with the canopy of the Frenchgate Centre causing damage.

It came to a halt on the pedestrian precinct and a search led to three arrests. The HGV was recovered on false plates. It had been stolen. A large number of vacuum cleaners were recovered, thought to have been taken from the lorry at Great Yorkshire Way.

It was one of a number of stolen vehicles recovered this month.

Burglars took a car on Market Road. Officers saw it in Cantley, before it crashed on Everingham Road. A suspect was arrested.

We found a stolen car outside Methley House, St James Street, taken during a burglary. CCTV showed where five suspects had gone after leaving the car. All were arrested on suspicion of burglary. Searching the area, we found a second stolen car.

Council CCTV staff also helped us find a black BMW stolen in a burglary at Oversley Road. With help from traffic and response officers, the driver and passenger were found parked near Milton Walk.

On January 21, a man was pushed off his moped by two men attempting to steal it after he stopped on Sandringham Road, Intake. They only got his ignition keys. The police helicopter helped find and arrest a suspect.

We have also seen over 1,000 cannabis plants seized this month after using search warrants.

In Hexthorpe, we recovered 700 at Mutual Street, where one man was arrested and charged. Over 100 were seized at Crimpsall Road, 80 at Beaconsfield Road where an arrest was made. We recovered 180 plants on Shadyside. Furthermore, a warrant at Sepulchre Gate West led to 100 plants being recovered.
