The first report received said there was a police convoy of over 20 cars, dog units and tactical armed police heading along the motorway towards Scunthorpe.

A spokesman for Leicestershire Police said: “Yesterday evening (Tuesday 4 May) a 53-year-old man and 51-year-old woman were arrested in Humberside by officers from Leicestershire Police, with assistance from colleagues from South Yorkshire Police.

“The man and woman were arrested in connection with an incident in the Bagworth area of Leicestershire on Thursday 29 April.

“They both remain in custody and enquiries are continuing.”
