Teen raped in Wheatley after being grabbed off street

A WOMAN was dragged into a property and raped as she walked home from a night out.

Police in Doncaster are appealing for information after the serious sexual assault in Wheatley on Saturday.

The assault happened around 4am in Beckett Road near to the One Stop shop, where a 19-year-old woman was walking.

The woman was grabbed from behind and dragged into a nearby property, where she was attacked. She managed to escape from the property and contact the police.

The suspect is described as a black man aged between 27 and 28 and approximately 5ft 9ins tall. He was slim but with a muscular build and had a Jamaican accent. He was wearing a white or grey T-shirt.

The attack comes weeks after a woman was raped on Roman Ridge footpath in Scawsby. Another woman was also sexually assaulted on Town Field in January. Police are not linking the crimes.

Det Con Kath Coulter said: “I want to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident.

“I would also like to advise residents especially women to think carefully about how they are going to get home at the end of the night. Always try to stay in a group if walking home or get a lift or licensed taxi in order to ensure you remain safe.”

Witnesses or anybody with information about the latest attack should call DC Coulter on 0114 2202020 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
