South Yorkshire's traffic cops want you to help set their priorities

But they are asking members of the public for their views on what issues officers should tackle.

Last year over 2,000 people had their say on the road policing team’s priorities, with 48 per cent of those who took part in a survey calling for officers to tackle drink and drug drivers.

Another 41 per cent asked officers to tackle drivers who use vehicles in an anti-social manner and 39 per cent called for officers to target those who use a mobile phone behind the wheel.

Another survey is now available to complete to shape the team’s priorities for the next three months.

Inspector Jason Booth said: “I would like to thank everyone who takes the time to complete our survey.

“We want to tackle matters that mean the most to our communities alongside our day-to-day work of disrupting and denying criminals the use of our road network.

“Since we have been gathering your views, we have implemented a dedicated traffic car that patrols identified ‘hot spot’ areas, carried out regular operations in partnership with the DVLA and partners and also held our first Operation Duxford, which focused on speeding.

“We would like to hope that people who follow our social media channels see that we are working hard to make the roads of South Yorkshire safer.

“Complete the survey and help us shape our work for the future months.”
