South Yorkshire man jailed for repeatedly breaching restraining order by calling and messaging woman

A South Yorkshire man has been jailed after he repeatedly contacted a woman he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order, court records show.

Omid Rahimi appeared before Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on January 6 where he admitted breaching the restraining order, imposed by the same court in June of last year.

Rahimi, made a number of calls and text messages to the woman between September 8 and New Year’s Eve, records show.

The 31-year-old, of Wellgate, Rotherham, was jailed for a total of 10 weeks because magistrates said the offences were so serious because of his history of previous offending, records show.

He must also pay a £128 victim surcharge, payable in all criminal convictions to fund services to support the victims of crime.

Magistrates also ordered Rahimi to pay a total of £85 in prosecution costs, court records show.

His guilty plea was taken into consideration when magistrates passed sentence.
