'Shot fired' as fears rise of TENTH shooting linked to ongoing Doncaster gang feud
Residents on a Doncaster housing estate have reported hearing a shot being fired late last night – as fears rise of a tenth shooting linked to an ongoing town gang war.
People living in Clay Lane reported hearing gunfire and the sound of squealing tyres late last night.
Streets on the estate were later the scene of heavy police activity, with numerous residents reporting seeing both unmarked and marked police vehicles patrolling the area near to Sandall Park.
It is understood the heaviest activity focused on the Chalmers Drive area around 11pm.
Earlier in the day, officers attended an incident involving several vehicles near to the same street.
Police were called up to around four to five hours earlier, with a photo taken at the scene showing a silver Mini and a dark blue car with its boot open being examined by officers and a number of patrol cars outside Shackleton Road at its junction with Chalmers Drive.
We have asked South Yorkshire Police about both incidents.
There are fears the latest incident could be linked to a wave of gun crime and violence which has swept Doncaster in recent weeks.
It is not clear if the latest incident is linked to the escalating feud, but it is a short distance from a number of other shootings which began on March 29 and have been linked by police.
Since then, houses in Cantley, Wheatley and Intake have all been attacked, while last Sunday, a street in Edenthorpe was sealed off when shots were fired at a house.
