Sheffield teen murder suspect blinded in one eye in Doncaster prison attack, reports say
A teenager suspected of taking part in the murder of Ramey Salem in Sheffield last year has been blinded in one eye in a jail attack, a national newspaper has reported.
The Daily Mirror has reported Jabari Fanty, 18, suffered “gruesome” injuries in the attack at HMP Doncaster, which sparked a security alert.
John Hewitson, the jail’s director, told the newspaper: “A prisoner was injured and his face and an eye were damaged.
"We are working with the police and the person who attacked him will face a criminal prosecution.”
Fanty was among four men who have allegedly been linked to the murder of Ramey Salem. They are set to face a trial in October.
Mr Salem was allegedly shot in a property on Grimesthorpe Road South, Burngreave, Sheffield, on Monday, November 16, and was taken to hospital where he died a short time later according to South Yorkshire Police.
