Search for missing bag after mugging

POLICe are trying to recover a missing handbag after an alleged mugging in Balby, Doncaster.

The incident happened on Tuesday, August 9, at around 6.30pm, as a 45-year-old woman was walking along Balby Road in the direction of the town centre.

As she approached the junction of Roberts Road, she was allegedly grabbed from behind by a man who took hold of her handbag dragging her towards an alleyway.

The man fled down the alleyway with the handbag and into the alley that runs behind the houses on Balby Road.

Police said the suspect was described as a white man who was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

The stolen handbag is a black leather Radley shoulder bag.

It has not yet been recovered, and police are asking residents who live in the vicinity to be vigilant.

Anyone who comes across the bag is being asked to report it to the police. A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, and is currently on bail.
