Road death of Conisbrough man - arrest made

A 38-year old Doncaster man has been arrested in connection to the collision on March 22 that led to the death of a Conisbrough man.

The man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and bailed until a date in May.

Derek Lyon, 52, of The Crescent, Conisbrough, was killed while out for a jog on Ruddle Lane between Edlington and Braithwell last Thursday,

This week, his widow spoke to our reporter of her “sixth sense” that Derek had died, and her need to find answers to the tragedy.

Derek was jogging along the country lane when it is alleged he was struck by a yellow truck, thought to have been overtaking a silver BMW, about 4.30pm.

South Yorkshire Police is appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen the vehicles involved, shortly before the collisions occurred.
