Rape suspect still being questioned at Rotherham

Police are still questioning a man over two brutal sex attacks in Rotherham.

The 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape yesterday morning, in connection with the serious assaults that took place in the Moorgate area of Rotherham.

One attack was in Moorgate Road at about 11.30pm on Friday, when a 27-year-old woman was sexually assaulted.

A second incident around 1am on Saturday following a reported break-in, again in the Moorgate area. Two females were attacked and one also suffered a serious sexual assault.

Police officers continue to make enquiries and high visibility controls will continue in the area.
