Police warning after spate of break-in burglaries on Doncaster housing estate

Police have warned householders to be on their guard after a spate of break-ins on the same night on a Doncaster housing estate.

Police were called at around 2.15am this morning to reports of an attempted burglary at an address in Chalmers Drive, Clay Lane.

It is reported that two men attempted to gain entry to the property but were disturbed by the occupant.

Later on, at around 4.35am, police received a further report of a burglary of an address in nearby Jefferson Avenue where the occupant’s handbag was stolen.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing to find those responsible.

“Anyone with information which might help our officers in their investigation into the attempted burglary at Chalmers Drive is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 88 of 5 May. To give information to officers investigating the burglary at Jefferson Avenue, please call 101 and quote incident number 56 of 5 May.”
