Police warning after fines dished out over social distancing rule breaches in centre of Doncaster

Police have warned they are ready to dish out more fines after taking action against a number of residents in the centre of Doncaster today.

Doncaster Central Neighbourhood Policing Team this evening described itself on its social media postings as ‘feeling frustrated’, after a day which saw eight fines issued on their patch.

It stated: “For the last two weeks we have been advising people about social distancing and only making essential journeys.

“Despite giving this advice using a variety of methods the message doesn't seem to be getting through.

“Today officers have issued eight fixed penalty notices in the Doncaster Central area. This enforcement activity will continue tomorrow and across the bank holiday weekend.”

Meanwhile, the Doncaster East team stated on their own social media posts that they have been carrying out foot patrols in Sykehouse, Moorends, Thorne and Fishlake today ‘making sure everyone was keeping safe’.
