Police have shut down a Doncaster ‘neighbourhood disco’ after receiving complaints it was ‘too loud'.

The impromptu music performance took place this afternoon in Stainforth when resident Ben McCarthy decided to cheer his neighbours up with some uplifting tunes.

Videos shared on the DN7 community Facebook page show the area being treated to Liverpool fan favourite You'll Never Walk Alone and 90s classic Boom Boom Boom by the Outhere Brothers.

However, after receiving complaints from some unimpressed locals, the police asked Ben to turn the music down, bringing an end to the fun.

On Facebook, he wrote: “Hope everyone has enjoyed the disco. It was good until someone rang police.”

Others, like Tammy Rhodes, were equally disappointed.

She said: “We were enjoying it too. Weren’t hurting anyone always a mardy miserable person to ruin it.”

And Angela Hooper said: “Was nice hearing it from the end of my street. Miserable sods out there!”
