Police release statement after officers swarm Doncaster street

Five police vehicles and armed police were spotted at the junction between Ballam Avenue and Castle Hills in Scawthorpe at around 7pm.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “This activity was part of an ongoing investigation in to armed criminality in Doncaster."

The spokesperson confirmed no arrests were made.

Armed police were also present in Bentley according to unconfirmed reports on social media. It is not known if the incidents are linked.
