Police launch murder probe after man aged 32 dies following Thurnscoe assault
Police have launched a murder probe following the death of a 32-year-old man who suffered ‘critical injuries’ during an assault in Barnsley.
The injured man - who died this afternoon (Sunday) - was found with a serious head injury outside a property on Thurnscoe’s Houghton Road on Friday at about 6.55pm.
Police are quizzing a 35-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assault yesterday. He remains in police custody.
Four other people – a 36-year-old man, a 34-year-old man and two 15-year-old boys – were also arrested on suspicion of assault but have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Formal identification and a post mortem examination are yet to take place.
Police are keen to hear from anyone yet to come forward with information that might help the investigation.
