Police in Doncaster catch serial 'Billy burglar' wanted for prison recall red-handed

Police in Doncaster caught a serial thief nicknamed ‘Billy burglar’ red-handed at a bookmakers in the town.

A spokesperson for Doncaster Central neighbourhood policing team said the man, who was also wanted wanted for a recall to prison, was arrested after being caught “pushing over fruit machines” in Coral on Balby Road in the early hours of Thursday (5 November).

They said: “In the early hours of this morning we were alerted by an alarm monitoring centre that there was an intruder at Coral bookies on Balby Road. Officers were quickly on scene where they found a male in a balaclava pushing over fruit machines.

"Billy burglar was soon arrested and when his identity was know it was discovered that he was also wanted for a previous burglary, a robbery and to top it off he was also wanted for a "Recall to Prison...He's now on his way to the Big House where he will experience the true meaning of lockdown.”
