Police hunt for card thief

A SNEAK-IN thief who crept into a woman’s home and stole her bank cards while she was out in the garden is being sought by South Yorkshire Police.

The force has issued a CCTV image of a young man they are looking for in connection with the alleged offence, which took place after the burglary on Monday, July 4.

Police said the thief then went on a spending spree with the bank cards.

The incident happened in the hamlet of Moorhouse, near Hampole, at around 12.30pm.

It is believed the thief got in through a door and bank cards were stolen and used across Doncaster.

A red or maroon old-style Ford Escort was seen in the area at around 2.30pm that day and police believe this may be connected to the incident.

They are keen to hear from anybody in the area who may have seen the car or anything suspicious.

Officers are also trying to trace the man in the CCTV image who they believe may be able to help with their enquiries.

Fiona Ginbey, from Doncaster’s crime management unit, said: “We are keen to hear from anybody who may recognise the man from the CCTV images as we believe he may be able to help with our enquiries.

“I would urge residents to always lock their windows and doors even if they are just in the garden.

“It only takes a minute for a burglar to sneak in and take valuables.”
