Michael Kolibski, aged 75, was sentenced to 22 months in jail at Sheffield Crown Court after admitting one charge of taking an indecent image of a child from September 2018 and two charges of possessing indecent images of a child from July 2019.

In 2018, intelligence was received that Kolibski had uploaded eight category C indecent images of children onto the internet. A warrant was executed at his home address of Ashton Drive in Kirk Sandall in December 2018 and his electronic devices were seized.

In July 2019, further evidence was provided to the police in the shape of a plastic box containing memory sticks. These were tested for DNA and fingerprints and this attributed them to being used by Kolibski.

One of the memory sticks was examined by the digital forensic unit and contained 743 category A images, 347 category B images, 11,176 category C images and 1,949 deleted images.

Due to the time taken to process the images and carry out tests, Kolibski was then further arrested on 27 July 2020.

Emily Bailey, one of South Yorkshire Police’s Investigations Officers, said: “Officers worked hard on this investigation, getting exhibits tested to ensure that the devices found containing the indecent images could be attributed to the suspect – which they were.”
