Murder suspect bailed as police make appeal

A man has been released on police bail by detectives investigating the death of a 38-year-old in Maltby.

The dead man, who has been named as Paul Sandford, also known as Paul Dyson, was reportedly assaulted in his home in Littlehey Close, Maltby, at around 1am on Friday October 30.

He was taken to hospital, where he died on Wednesday 4 November. A post-mortem examination was inconclusive and further tests have been requested to determine the exact cause of death.

The 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder last. He has been bailed while detectives continue enquiries.

Det Ch Insp Craig Robinson, said: “We are in the very early stages of our inquiry and officers remain in the local community, examining CCTV footage and gathering information.

“A number of lines of enquiry are being pursued by the investigative team and I want to reassure local residents that we are working incredibly hard to understand the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.

“To ensure that our investigation is as comprehensive as possible, I’d like to appeal to anyone that may hold information to come forward.”
