South Yorkshire Police said a 35-year-old woman was found ‘unconscious and unresponsive’ at a property on Thorne Road in the town just before 9.30pm yesterday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
A 38-year-old Doncaster man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody this afternoon.
A post mortem examination is expected to take place later today.
