Murder investigations under way after deaths of FIVE Doncaster women in seven weeks

Doncaster detectives are working on investigations into the deaths of five women in the town after another fatality.

The latest murder probe was launched after a woman was found unconscious and unresponsive in a property on Thorne Road just before 9.30pm yesterday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and a 38-year-old Doncaster man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He remains in police custody.

A post mortem examination is expected to take place later today.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The woman's family are being supported by officers.”

There are now five murder investigations under way following the deaths of women in the town over recent weeks.

On Tuesday, May 19, the body of Amanda Sedgwick, 49, was found in a property on Manor Way, Askern.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

On Sunday, May 24, Michelle Morris suffered a head injury during a disturbance at a property on Ramskir View, Stainforth.

The 52-year-old was taken to hospital for treatment but could not be saved and died three days later.

Three arrests were made.

Amy Stringfellow, 26, was found critically injured in a house on Dryden Road, Balby, on Friday, June 5.

The personal trainer and mum-of-one could not be saved and was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man has been charged with her murder.

Three days later, on Monday, June 8, the body of a 28-year-old woman, who has not yet been named, was found in a property on Main Street, Mexborough, Doncaster.

Two men were arrested over the death.
